Angels release former first-overall pick Mickey Moniak after arbitration

The Los Angeles Angels have elected to release outfielder Mickey Moniak from his contract. The 2016 first-overall draft pick won an arbitration hearing related to his salary, earlier this offseason. As a result, he was awarded a $2 million salary. Instead of keeping him on their payroll, the Angels opted to buy Moniak out of his contract.
